Frequently Asked Questions | Optimise Remedial

Frequently asked questions are important to help you understand about the services we provide at Optimise Remedial. We pride ourselves on providing high quality remedial massage with highly trained, friendly remedial therapists. These are commonly asked questions about your appointment and our services.

‘Optimise’ is the signature treatment we offer and is most suited if you are experiencing headaches, TMJ syndrome and other injury and issues.  It is a results based treatment aiming at promoting the body’s natural healing response using the latest in Neuromuscular myofascial release techniques (FNFT).

Tailored to your individual needs this is an assessment and treatment of soft tissue pain and imbalances.  This can be effective for injury management, long term pain and dysfunction, postural imbalances and long term headache and Jaw pain.

This massage treatment is typically 30 – 45 minutes, consisting of assessment, treatment and an ongoing management plan.

Remedial massage is the objective assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of the signs, symptoms and causes of biomechanical dysfunction or injury, using a range of massage techniques and specific mobilisation, in order to restore normal health and optimise function in soft tissue including muscle, tendons and ligaments. Also inclusive are the other benefits of massage including increased circulation, reduction in tightness and pain and improvement in general wellbeing.

This is one of the most frequently asked questions amongst our clients.

You can expect a
detailed history and assessment of your injury or condition. Then a hands-on treatment including remedial and muscle release techniquesmobilisation and stretches.

Treatments can be done through clothing where possible, but de-robing may be required depending on what is worn to your treatment.  Follow up sessions can be required where imbalances and issues may take some time for the body to adjust or realign to the new ‘normal’.

Massage treatment is a time-based treatment, which can be a little bit of everything.  Working out some tightness and restriction, with massage and stretching.  But also, some of the nicer and feel good massage techniques from a firm massage to relaxation style massage.  It is completely up to you to choose your allotted time and what you would like to achieve and away we go.

Depending on the symptoms treated, after your massage treatment, your body may feel a little sore or drained for a day or two.  This is normal, especially if you have been carrying an injury or tension for some time.

It is recommended that you stay hydrated and drink a lot of water after your massage to flush out toxins brought out through the
treatment. Gentle movements and breathing can also be beneficial to ‘move through’ the extra range of movement and mobility created from the session.

All types of soft tissue complaints from general aches and pains caused by tightness and restriction in the body can be treated, to more acute pain and injurfrom many causes, acute and chronic conditions that have been present for months and even years!

Our signature treatment ‘Optimise’ is a conservative treatment working on muscles, tendons, nervesligaments and fascia. With a majority of the treatment comprised of a neuromuscular myofascial release to work with the body to release restrictions and promote a healing response.  This method is effective and efficient having studied Timothy King’s FNFT techniques (Fast and Functional) is the best and most effective way to get you feeling optimised and at your peak, whether that be just feeling good or at your physical best.

Massage has been used in many forms by many different cultures for thousands of years.  Heavily used in Chinese medicine, Indian culture and even the Gladiators of old.

Soft tissue manipulation has been a way to keep pain free and mobile for as long as we can record.  In the last few years, there have been big leaps in soft tissue science.  The way we look at the connective tissue (fascia) and how it impacts muscle and soft tissue health is changing.  Scientists are still in debate as to what and how things are actually happening on a cellular and musculoskeletal level.  But what we can see is that the neuromuscular system seems to be the way to go in terms of release and keeping things in balance and at the most optimal for function and pain-free movement

Remedial Massage has been shown to be beneficial for:

  • Pain relief
  • Promotes relaxation and restful sleep

  • Accelerates the body’s own natural ability to heal by increasing nutrients and circulation to areas that need repair
  • Improve mood by reducing anxiety and depression
  • Prevention and management of injuries
